~ Travelling: Istanbul ~

Istanbul - the majestic city of intricate beauty. The city where two roads of the grand past and the developed modernity cross each other and coexist slowly floating above the stunning landscape. Istanbul impresses with its splendor and intrigues with its mystery which seems to be hidden around every corner and in every pot of bright spices on the Grand Bazaar.
It's a city of colour. It's in the nature, architecture, people, clothes, food. I was amazed how the city marries in itself modernity with fascinating culture and history at the same time. We walked through the busiest streets which were filled with the excitement of a diverse crowd rushing here and there. We ate exotic for us food rich with taste and colour. We dived into the Grand Bazaar which is a place to spend at least one week at while choosing a handmade carpet covered in intricate patterns, tasting strong and sweet Turkish tea and picking up the most beautiful jewellery for the most ridiculously low prices. We explored the night scene of the city and believe me it is really something. We relaxed and washed away the rush of the life from our bodies and souls at a divine hamam (Turkish sauna).
But the most I was impressed by people. Extremely polite, full of dignity men and beautiful and something of very mysterious women.
Istanbul - the city worth coming back to again and again.

  6. I haven't been to Turkey. we have considered it as a holiday destination but have always preferred Crete over Turkey. but after reading and seeing Istanbul through your point of view I think it would be a wonderful new experience, definitely worth discovering. your photos are so rich in colours and authentic Turkish moments and your summery ensemble is just perfect for such location. it's a beautiful post, Alexandra.

  9. I watched a tv show on Istanbul and it said that the Hagia Sophia was built shortly after 10,000 people had been killed in the area. Amazing something so spiritual can come from something so horrible xx
