Tarvelling: Thailand - Bangkok

First days of our trip through Thailand after a 12 hours flight we spent in Bangkok, the amazing city which strikes with its colours and culture from the ever first second. As I wrote on my Instagram profile (fashionbridge) if I were a designer I'd definitely choose Thailand as an endless source of collections' inspiration. I can't stop marvel at the beauty and the colourfulness of the country.

I expected worse from Bangkok, but besides a China Town which was quite impressive with its business and chaos the city is very clean and organized. 

We did all very tourist-ish things: we went to the temple comparable with its beauty and size to St. Peter in Vatican; to China town to enjoy spices and craziness of the market over there; took a tuk-tuk ride; ate traditional food and went for a thai massage. In the evening our feet (to be more precise a taxi) brought us to a new business district of Bangkok full of chic restaurants, bars and cafes. The difference between old city and the new areas are truly striking if not to say mind-blowing. However overall Thai people are incredibly friendly, sweet and definitely are the great music fans.

Now we are in Chiang Mai the second biggest city of Thailand. I'll keep you posted about the trip here on the blog and on Instagram (@fashionbridge).

Два первых дня нашего путешествия по Тайланду мы провели после 12 часового перелета в Бангкоке, невероятно красивой столице страны, поражающей с первого взгляда разнообразием красок и богатством культуры. 

Как я писала в инстаграме (fashionbridge), если бы я была дизайнером, я абсолютно точно выбрала бы Тайланд в качестве бесконечного источника вдохновения. Не могу перестать удивляться и любоваться красочностью этой страны.

Я ожидала худшего от Бангкока. За исключением суеты и хаоса Чана Тауна, город достаточно чист и организован. 

Мы провели наши дни как истинные туристы: посетили несколько храмов, которые по красоте и величаю могут сравниться разве что с собором Св. Петра в Ватикане; испробовали специи и попытались пробраться сквозь сумятицу в районе Чайна Таун; проехались в тук-тук и сходили на тайский массаж. Вечером наши ноги (а точнее такси) привели нас в бизнес центр города, полный модных и дорогих рестаранов, баров и кафе. Разница между старым центром и новым, бизнес центром Бангкока поражает, а то и заставляет врасплох с открытым ртом. Хотя люди везде приветливые, дружелюбные и внимательные.

Travelling: Heading to Thailand

No, this is not a hot mess or at least not how I imagine one. It's a strongly coordinated packing for my more than two weeks trip to Thailand. Me and my boyfriend we are leaving to get an extra couple of weeks of summer. I promise to update you with the photos and stories from Thailand as often as possible on the blog. Нет, это не кромешный беспорядок, по крайне мере, мне он видится не так. Это хорошо скоординированные сборы в Тайланд. Insta-Life: August

Basically august came and went the same way as the whole summer did. As usual careless summer leaves us brutally behind without even any idea how painful is the comprehension of that something so long and eagerly awaited is gone in no time. Oh well...

August was marked by playing a tourist in my own city (above and below) and endless reorganization of my closet (below)

По сути август прошел так же незаметно, как и само лето. Ежегодно с равнодушием лето оставляет нас позади, даже не задумываясь, насколько тяжело дается осознание того, что что-то очень долгожданное и желанное пролетело в мгновение ока. Ну что ж...

Август был отмечен игрой в "туриста" у меня дома (причем как в Голландии, так и в России), а также бесконечно длительной реорганизацией гардероба (фото выше и ниже).

August brought a heat wave to the Netherlands and together with it a lot of whites to my outfits (above). Besides last summer month kindly treated us with some cocktails and watermelons (below).

Август принес с собой жару в Голландию, а вместе с ней и невероятное колличество белых вещей в мой гардероб (фото выше).

Помимо, не обошлось без коктелей и арбуза (фото ниже).

In august I left one home to go back for a while to my old one to enjoy the company of my extremely fabulous and at the same extent hilarious dog (above) and to re-discover all good things (below).

В августе я на время вернулась в свой старый дом, чтоб насладиться моей безумно доброй и в то же время невероятно смешной собакой (фото выше) и по-новому открыть старые добрые вещи и места (фото ниже).

I flew and drove back through the august sunset and came back to the countless roses of the colour of that sunset (above and below). I came back to pack for and smile openly to new trips and adventurous about which I tell you in my next post. 

Аdieu august!

Я возвращалась домой через августовский закат и приехала к охапке роз такого же цвета, как тот закат (фото выше и ниже). Я вернулась, чтоб снова упаковать чемодан и открыто улыбнуться грядущим путешествиям и приключениям, о которых я расскажу в следующем посте.

My looks: Simplicity is The Key

Sometimes less is more. I'm usually the one who piles tones of bracelets and necklaces, who wears all the possible scarves, shawls and hats. However there are the days when simplicity plays the key role when it comes to stylish outfits. No fuss, no arm swags - clean lines and neat look. 

Иногда вступает в силу правило "Чем меньше - тем лучше". Я - типичный представитель подвида любителей наслаивать один браслет на другой, до тех пор пока ряды их не достигнут локтевой области:) Но бывают дни, когда простота играет ключевую роль в успешном создании стильного образа. Никаких нагромождений, никаких бесконечных рядов браслетов, только четкие линии и естественность.

Hair: Braids

It's not a secret that this summer's biggest hair trend was braids. After being seen at Valentino, Moschino and Alexander McQueen the trend has been officially established. Since then braids in all possible twists and variations conquered our hearts and heads. I haven't escaped the braids obsession either. Here's the glorious result. Something tells me that with the approach of the fall the leaves will fall down from the trees but the braids trend will remain rooted.    

Не секрет, что самым весомым hair трендом этого лета  были косы. После того, как ряд модных домов, включая Valentino, Moschino и Alexander McQueen, выпустили на подиум армию моделей, чьи волосы были замысловато скручены и переплетены, стало ясно, косы надолго обосновались в наших сердцах и на наших головах. Мне не удалось избежать данной участи. И что-то мне подсказывает, что с приближением весны листья могут покинуть ветви деревьев, но не косы мою голову.

Ralph Lauren F/W 2012 Ad Campaign

In my previous post I mentioned how utterly beautiful I find the Ralph Lauren F/W 2012 collection which is most obviously inspired by the end of the 20-ies and the beginning of the 30-ies. The fascination I've developed with these two decades should be mostly seen as a side effect of my love to the works of F.Scott Fitzgerald. The beauty and sadness with which the author awarded the careless lives of his characters romanticizes that epoch. With the come back of flapper dresses and Leonardo DiСaprio as Jay Gatsby no wonder that Ralph Lauren found inspiration in the years 20-ies/30-ies, not to mentioned the fact that the designer created the all the looks for "The Great Gatsby" starring Robert Redford as Gatsby.  

В моем предыдущем посте  я писала, как осенне-зимняя коллекция дома Ralph Lauren, вдохновленная 20-ми, 30-ми годами прошлого века, заставила мое сердце биться в два раза быстрее, отстукивая под ритм чарльстона. Особые, теплые чувства, которые я питаю к тем двум десятилетиям можно охарактеризовать как побочный эффект моей любви к произведениям Ф. Скотта Фицджеральда. Красота и печаль, которой автор наделил беспечные жизни своих героев окрашивает романтизмом всю ту эпоху. Неудивительно, что с возвращением платьев флэппер (flapper) и Леонардо ДиКаприо в роли Джея Гэтсби, вдохновение для нынешней коллекции Ralph Lauren было почерпнуто в бурных 20-ых и 30-ых. Не стоит также упускать из виду, что та эпоха известна дизайнеру, как никому другому. Ralph Lauren создал все костюмы для героев фильма "Великий Гэтсби" с Робертом Рэтфердом в главной роли.

Trend report: Preppy in Fall

For me fall has always been associated with the beginning of a new fashion and yes, school year. Cozy tweeds, comfy butter-like leather jackets, warm checked wools and preppy caps are the logical and permanent ingredients of my fall outfits. Remember this?? In spite of the current trends such brands as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren (especially love the 30-ies inspired tweed coats, jackets and caps from the F/W 12 collection), J Crew, Rag and Bone et cetera   provide us with a constant supply of amazing "back to school" pieces. Get preppy this fall, what's good for Harvard, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge is good for all of us.

Для меня осень всегда ассоциировалась с началом нового года в мире моды и нового учебного года, да, да, учебного. Уютный твид, мягкие, как масло, кожаные куртки, шерстяные свитера в клетку и кепи с маленькими козырьками - все это логически неотъемлемые части осеннего гардероба. Помните это?? Несмотря на нынешние тренды, такие бренды, как: Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren (особенно мне нравятся твидовые пальто, пиджаки и кепи а-ля 30-ые годы из коллекции осень-зима 12), J Crew, Rag and Bone et cetera снабжают нас нескончаемым количеством великолепных вещей из области "и снова в школу". Вывод - одеваемся в стиле  preppy и этой осенью. Все, что хорошо для Гарварда,  Йеля, Оксфорда и Кембриджа, хорошо и для нас.

My look: Dress & Jacket

A few quick shots made by my lovely friend yesterday. The weather wasn't really warm for mid August which gave me a chance for the ever first time to show the world my new Maje leather jacket which I bought back in June in Paris. The butter soft leather and dark blue canvas details make the jacket a splurge worthy piece. The rest of the look I kept clean, fuss-free and feminine. The cream sequins dress which I snagged just a day ago already has conquered my heart and dreams!

 Несколько снимков, сделанных за считанные минуты моей любимой подругой. Прохладный августовский воздух и уже негреющее солнце позволили мне устроить дебют моей новой кожаной куртке Maje, купленной еще в июне в Париже. Мягкая, как масло, кожа и вставки материала, напоминающего грубый холст, придают куртке особую неповторимость. В остальном образ незатейлив и женственен. Особенно мне нравится кремовое платье в пайетках, успевшее завоевать мои мысли и сны.

Travelling: In Amsterdam

Last week I spent a lovely weekend in fantastic Amsterdam. It's difficult to describe in only few words how beautiful the city is and how unique and fascinating the atmosphere of Amsterdam is. I wrote once the whole post dedicated to it all. You can find it here. In this post I follow the rule that one picture is worth more than hundred words and show you some shots made during my quick visit. Enjoy!

На прошлой неделе я провела два неповторимых дня в Амстердаме, который опять-таки подтвердил свою уникальность. Все выходные я наслаждалась красотой города и ни на что непохожей атмосферой города. Сложно передать ощущения, вызванные Амстердамом, в нескольких строчках. Я попыталась это сделать в этом посте. Здесь же я, согласно высказыванию: лучше один раз увидеть, чем сто раз услышать, покажу вам несколько снимков, сделанных за  два дня, проведенных в голландской столице.  Наслаждайтесь!

PS. несколько лет назад я жила в Амстердаме, так что я знаю город достаточно хорошо. Если вы собираетесь туда и вам нужен какой-то совет, обращайтесь.

Beautiful sunflowers mark in the city the arrival of August and with it the first signs of autumn.

Искусство повсюду в Амстердаме: на улицах, в ресторанах, в людях.
