The Great Gatsby

So this is it. Today here, in the Netherlands is a premier of the anticipated Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" film. I am a big admirer of the works of F.Scott Fitzgerald and "The Great Gatsby" is one of my favorite books since I was 14. I was looking forward, itching to see the Luhrmann's interpretation of Fitzgerald's masterpiece for months, yet since the news of the new "Gatsby" film were broken I was doubting quite a lot whether the film will be a success (see here my thoughts on it back in July 2011). "The Great Gatsby" premiered in the United States on May 10th and already has made $51 million. However the film was accepted less enthusiastically (I would say "coldly") at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was met with the silence in the end while some people were already leaving during the film's premier. The responses were mildly saying "different". Tomorrow I will finally see the film myself. Make sure to check my facebook and instagram to find out my opinion on Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby". Have you already seen the film? Вот и пришел конец ожиданию. Сегодня в Голландии состоится премьера уже нашумевшего фильма режиссера База Лурмана "Великий Гэтсби". Я большая поклонница трудов Ф. Скотта Фицджеральда, а "Великий Гэтсби" одна из моих любимых книг. С той минуты, когда я узнала о съемке нового "Гэтсби", я с нетерпением, ерзая и подпрыгиваяна стуле, ждала выхода фильма на широкий экран. Однако я сомневалась и сомневаюсь по сей день, удастся ли фильму передать всю красоту, печаль и трагедию жизни Гэтсби (читайте мои мысли по поводу нового фильма здесь, июль 2011). Премьера "Великого Гэтсби" состоялась в Америке 10 мая, фильм уже собрал более $51 миллиона. Однако на Каннском Фестивале "Великий Гэтсби" Лурмана был принят с меньшим энтузиазмом, если не сказать "с прохладой крещенских морозов". По окончанию фильма в зале воцарилась мертвая тишина, а некоторые зрители покинули зал еще до окончания премьерного показа. Деликатно говоря, фильм был принят по-разному.  It wouldn´t be an overstatement to say that The Metropolitan Museum´s Annual Costume Institute Gala (MET Gala) is one of the most anticipated, glamorous and memorable events of a year. This year's "Punk" theme brought the biggest celebrities in the most over the top couture creations together. Here are my favorites:

Inspirations: White Mischief

I stumbled upon a pile of old magazines and I couldn't believe that I wanted to throw away an issue with an editorial which easily could be called a piece of art. "White Mischief  with Agyness Deyn photographed by Tim Walker in a ghost town in the Namib Desert is doubtlessly one of the most impressive fashion editorials ever featured in Vogue UK. The photos are captivating  mesmerizing, breath-taking - a delicate mix of beauty and sadness. 

Я наткнулась на пачку старых журналов и не поверила своим глазам: я чуть не выкинула номер со съемкой, которую легко можно назвать произведением искусства. Модель Agyness Deyn запечатлена фотографом Tim Walker в городе- призраке, затерянном в песках Намибии. Фотографии получились завораживающими, удивительной смесью прекрасного и печального.

My looks: Kimono

Could there be a better combination than a mysterious Japanese Geshas’ clothes and exquisite designs by Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton?  Hardly. I embraced warm weather and the beauty of trees in blossom with the wide sleeves of my silk kimono. Elegant yet sexy, seductive yet very delicate McQueen’s kimono is the best way to celebrate spring, youth and femininity. 

Существует ли лучшее сочетание, чем загадочные одеяния японских женщин,  выполненные креативным директором модного дома AlexanderMcQueen Сарой Бартон? Вряд ли. Я обняла теплую погоду и цветущие деревья широкими рукавами моего шелкового кимоно. Элегантное и в то же время сексуальное, манящее но все же очень нежное это кимоно – лучший способ отдать дань весне, молодости и женственности.

Travelling: London, Spring Time

When you live abroad and incredibly miss your family and friends the short meetings you are lucky to have with them become absolutely special and somehow unforgettable.  One of my bff's and I we both moved to different countries at the same time and meeting up became even more difficult. This time we've chosen a neutral territory - our favorite city, London. The plan for the weekend was gigantic. We've run through the city like maniacs giggling and laughing like we were 10 again. We shopped, had some lovely very English food - tapas (joking;) and we visited beyond impressive Roy Lichtenstein exhibition at Tate Modern (I think you already guessed by my Iphone case that I'm a big fan of Lichtenstein's work).

Needless to say - the best weekend!

Когда живешь заграницей и невероятно скучаешь по семье и друзьям, те короткие встречи с ними, подаренные судьбой, становятся абсолютно незабываемыми и бесценными. Одна из моих лучших подруг и я, мы переехали в другие страны в одно и то же время, и встречаться стало еще труднее. В этот раз мы выбрали нейтральную территорию -  наш любимый город, Лондон. План на выходные был грандиозным. Мы носились по городу, заливаясь смехом, как будто нам снова было по 10 лет. Мы устроили целое показательное выступление в примерочных магазинов, ели традиционную английскую еду - тапас (шучу, шучу:), и дошли-таки до впечатляющей выставки Роя Лихтенштейна в Тэйт Модерн (я обожаю его работы).

Что ж, не стоит и говорить, что выходные выдались на славу!

I probably should have titled this post as "the most weird places and ways to take a photo". Shadows, reflections, round metallic balls, windows, etc. - were my best friends or better to say tools while I was snapping our happy faces.

Пожалуй, мне стоило назвать этот пост "самые странные места для съёмки". Тени, отражения, большие блестящие металлические  шары, асфальт и витрины, все они были моими лучшими друзьями, а лучше сказать, помощниками, пока я старалась запечатлеть наши счастливые физиономии.
